Venetian blinds in Tyldesley & Greater Manchester
As popular now as they ever were. They add a sense of width to a narrow window, and give you fine control over privacy and light.
The blind that gives you the in-between
What a venetian is like to live with, dust and all.
A venetian gives you something a roller can't: the in-between. Tilt the slats and you get daylight across the ceiling with the street shut out at eye level, which is exactly what you want in a front room, or in an office where the sun lands on the screen.
The slats tilt through their range rather than just opening and shutting, so you set the blind to the day. Turned up, the light goes across the ceiling and into the room. Turned down, you get the daylight without the glare on the telly.
On a narrow window they genuinely help. The horizontal lines pull your eye sideways, so the window reads wider than it is.
The honest downside is dust. Slats catch it and there's no way round that. Close them one way, run a duster or a damp cloth along them, then turn them the other way and do the same. Aluminium doesn't mind a bit of moisture, which is why venetians have always ended up in kitchens and bathrooms. Do that every couple of weeks and they'll look new for years. If nobody in the house is ever going to do it, a roller is the better answer and we'll say so.
Ours are 25mm aluminium as standard, with the headrail and the bottom bar matched to the slat, so the whole blind reads as one piece rather than three.
What you can choose
Not sure which shade suits the room? That is what the sample books are for. We hold them up against your own walls, in your own light.
| Slats | 25mm aluminium as standard. |
|---|---|
| Headrail and bottom bar | Matched to the slat, so the blind reads as one piece rather than three. |
| Colours and finishes | Bold colours, delicate shades, metallic finishes and Aliwood finishes. |
| Operation | Slats tilt through their range, so you set the blind to the day. Both control cords are separated, so no loop is formed. |
| uPVC windows and doors | All of our venetian blinds work with the Perfect Fit system, which clips into the frame rather than being drilled into it. |
| Want a wider slat? | That's a wooden blind rather than a venetian, and we make those too at 35mm, 50mm and 65mm. |
| Measuring and fitting | We come out and measure, then fit them ourselves. Evenings and weekends if that suits you better. |
| Warranty | Every blind comes with the manufacturer's warranty. It varies by blind and by manufacturer, so ask us and we'll tell you what covers yours before you order. |
Where a venetian works, and where it doesn't
We'd rather talk you out of the wrong blind than fit it and hear about it a year later.
Good for
- Front rooms and offices where the sun catches a screen.
- Narrow windows that could do with looking a bit wider.
- Kitchens and bathrooms, because aluminium doesn't mind a wipe.
- Anyone who wants the light in without the street looking in.
Probably not for
- A house where nobody is going to dust them. Slats catch dust, and that's just the truth of it.
- A bedroom you need pitch black. Light finds the gaps between the slats.
- Wide patio doors, where a vertical covers the span for less money.
What people ask us about venetian blinds
If yours isn't here, ring the showroom on 01942 882 181 and ask.
What size are the slats?
25mm aluminium as standard, with the headrail and the bottom bar matched to the slat. If you want a wider, heavier slat with a bit more warmth to it, that's a wooden blind rather than a venetian, and we make those too at 35mm, 50mm and 65mm.
Will a venetian blind black out a bedroom?
No. Closed slats give you privacy, but light still finds the gaps between them. If you need a room properly dark, ask us about a roman blind with blackout lining or a blackout roller instead.
Can I have venetian blinds on uPVC windows and doors?
Yes. All of our venetian blinds work with the Perfect Fit system, which clips into the frame rather than being drilled into it, so there's nothing to fix into the uPVC.
Do you fit them as well as measure them?
Yes. Simon measures the windows and Simon comes back to fit the blinds. Nobody hands your job to a fitter who has never seen the window. If something isn't right once it is up, ring us and he comes back out. Every blind also comes with the manufacturer's warranty. It varies by blind and by manufacturer, so ask us and we'll tell you what covers yours before you order.
Children and pets in the house
On our venetian blinds both control cords are separated, so no loop is formed. Tell us when we come out that there are children or pets in the house and we'll fit it that way. Most of the safety options cost nothing extra.
