Accessibility
We want anyone to be able to use this site, whatever they are using to read it. This page says plainly what the site does, where it falls short, and how to tell us if something gets in your way.
What we aim for
This site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, at level AA. That is the standard most public bodies in the UK have to meet. We are a small blind firm and nobody makes us meet it, but we would rather build it right than build it twice.
We also have a duty under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments so that a disabled customer is not put at a disadvantage. A website that shuts someone out is one way that happens, so we treat this page as part of that duty rather than as a formality.
Everything below was checked on 30 August 2026. It describes the site as it actually behaves, not as we would like it to behave.
What the site does
All of this was measured on the live site, not taken on trust from a template.
| Works without JavaScript | Every page works with scripting turned off. So does the menu, and so does the enquiry form on the contact page. Nothing on this site waits for a script before it will show you anything. |
|---|---|
| Takes 200% text | You can set your browser text size to 200% and no content is lost and nothing is cut off. The layout reflows instead of breaking. |
| Works by keyboard | You can reach every link, button, menu and form field with the Tab key alone, and there is a visible outline showing where you are. A skip link at the top of each page jumps you straight past the menu to the content. |
| Images have text alternatives | Photographs carry alt text describing what they show. Images that are purely decorative are marked so a screen reader passes over them instead of reading out a filename. |
| Colour is never the only clue | Nothing on the site is explained by colour alone. Wherever colour carries meaning there is also a word, a shape or a label saying the same thing. |
| Nothing in the way | There are no pop-ups, no adverts, no cookie banner and no chat window that opens itself. The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking of any kind, so there is nothing to dismiss before you can read the page. |
A Lighthouse accessibility audit of this site scored 100 on mobile. That is an automated check and it cannot catch everything, so we do not treat it as the last word. It is one measurement among several.
Where it falls short
Two things we know about. We would rather tell you than let you find them.
- Some photographs came from our suppliers. Where a photograph is a supplier's product shot rather than a job we did ourselves, the alt text describes the product and the sort of window it suits. It does not describe a particular room in a particular house, because we did not take the picture. Photographs of our own work are described as what they are.
- The logo strip on the home page moves. The row of supplier logos on the home page scrolls slowly across. If your device or browser is set to ask for reduced motion, it stops moving and the logos sit still instead. If you would rather it never moved at all, turning on reduced motion in your device settings will do it.
If you find something else, we would like to know. It is easier to fix a problem we have been told about than one we have guessed at.
If something on this site gets in your way
Tell us and we will sort it
Ring 01942 882 181 or email mjblindsltd@gmail.com. Tell us which page it was and what happened. A real person here reads it.
You do not have to use the website at all. If you cannot read a page, or you would rather not use a computer, ring us and we will read it out to you over the phone. If it is the enquiry form that is the problem, ring and we will take the whole enquiry on the phone instead and book the visit while you are on.
You can also call in at the showroom at 45 Castle Street, Tyldesley, or write to us there, and we will deal with it that way.
We will get back to you. If a fix is quick we will do it and tell you it is done. If it is going to take longer, we will tell you that too, and in the meantime we will find another way to get you what you were after.
How we checked
We went through the site by keyboard alone, with JavaScript switched off, and with the browser text size pushed to 200%, on a phone and on a desktop machine. We also ran an automated Lighthouse accessibility audit against the mobile version.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. The fonts come from Google Fonts, and if those fonts do not load the pages still read normally in your device's own typeface. Enquiries sent from the contact form are delivered by Resend to our own inbox. Those are the only outside services involved in serving you a page.
We have not had this site audited by an outside accessibility specialist. When we change something substantial we check it again the same way.
