Terms of supply
These are the terms we work to when we measure, supply and fit blinds for you. The most important one is at the top, because it is the one people are caught out by: a blind made to the size of your window cannot be sent back because you have changed your mind.
Cancelling a made-to-measure order
The law says we must tell you this before you order, so we are telling you here as well as at your appointment.
A made-to-measure order cannot be cancelled because you change your mind
Each blind is made to the exact measurements of one window in your home. Nobody else can use it. Because of that, an order for made-to-measure blinds cannot be cancelled or returned simply because of a change of mind.
This is regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Goods made to your specification are outside the 14-day cancellation right, so that right does not apply to your blinds.
It does not affect your rights if something is faulty, not as described or not fit for purpose. Those rights are set out further down this page and nothing here reduces them.
If you do change your mind, ring us straight away on 01942 882 181. If your order has not gone off to be made yet, we will tell you honestly what can still be changed or stopped, and we will confirm in writing what we have agreed. Once your sizes are on the machine, it cannot be stopped.
Getting a measurement wrong is our problem, not yours. If a blind does not fit because we measured it wrong, we put it right at our cost. That is a fault, not a change of mind.
If we ever supply you a standard, stock-size blind that is not made to your measurements, the 14-day cancellation right does apply to that item, and we will tell you so at the time.

Quotes, prices and paying
Measuring is free and there is no obligation to order. We come to you, bring the samples, measure the windows and work the price out while we are there.
You get the quote in writing. It lists the blinds, the fabrics, the sizes and the total price including fitting, and it says on it how long that price holds for. If you order after that date we will requote rather than hold you to an old figure.
The price we write down is the price you pay. Fitting is included in it. If something you ask for later changes the price — a different fabric, an extra window, a motorised track instead of a cord — we tell you the new figure and get your say-so before we order it.
How and when you pay, and anything you pay up front, is written on the quote or the order before you commit to anything. Nothing is taken that you have not seen in writing first.
Measuring and fitting are both ours
We take the measurements ourselves and we fit the blinds ourselves. We do not send you a tape measure and we do not hand the job to a subcontractor. The person who measured your windows is the person who comes back to fit them.
That matters legally as well as practically. Because we supply the blind and install it, a blind that is badly fitted counts in law as a defect in the goods. It is ours to put right, not something to argue about with a manufacturer.
What we need from you is access to the windows on the fitting day, and somewhere to work. If a fitting date has to move, either way, we ring and agree a new one.
Colours on a screen are only a guide. Choose from the fabric samples we bring to the appointment, because that swatch is what your blind is matched to.
The warranty on your blinds
Every blind we supply comes with the warranty from the manufacturer who made it. That warranty is not the same on every blind. It varies by blind and by manufacturer, and two blinds on the same order can carry different cover if they were made by different firms.
So ask us. Tell us which blind you are looking at and we will tell you what covers it before you order, while you still have the choice in front of you. There is more on this on our warranty page.
A manufacturer's warranty is extra. It sits on top of your legal rights and it never replaces or reduces them.
Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015
These apply whatever any warranty says, and nothing in these terms can cut them down.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 the blinds we sell you have to be of satisfactory quality, fit for the purpose you told us about, as described, and a match for the sample you chose from. The work of fitting them has to be carried out with reasonable care and skill.
Because we fit as well as supply, the Act treats incorrect installation as a fault with the goods themselves. If a blind is fitted wrongly, that is a defect in what we sold you.
If something is faulty:
- You have 30 days from delivery to reject the blind and get your money back.
- After 30 days you can ask for a repair or a replacement, and that includes taking the blind down and re-fitting it at our cost.
- If a repair or replacement does not put it right, you can ask for a price reduction or reject the blind at that point.
Those rights are against the firm that sold you the goods, which is us. You do not have to go to a manufacturer to use them.
Keep the paperwork that comes with your order somewhere safe. It has the fitting date on it and it says exactly which blind and which fabric you have, which makes everything quicker if you ever need us back.
If you need to complain
Ring 01942 882 181 and ask for Simon. Say which window it is and what the problem is. There is no form to fill in and no ticket number.
If you would rather put it in writing, email mjblindsltd@gmail.com or write to us at 45 Castle Street, Tyldesley, Greater Manchester M29 8FP.
We come out and look at the blind on the window, because a fault is far easier to judge in the room than down a phone line. Then we tell you where it stands: if it is the fitting or the blind itself, we put it right; if it falls to the manufacturer's warranty, we deal with them for you.
Complaining to us does not use up your legal rights. You keep them either way, and you can always take a dispute to the county court if we cannot sort it between us.
Anything here you want explaining?
Ring and ask. We would far rather talk you through a term on the phone than have you sign something you are not sure about. Evenings and weekends are no bother.
